About me as a learner
In 1993 I graduated as a translator of English from ENS Lenguas Vivas "Sofía Spanggenberg" and, as many translators do here in Argentina (for some strange reason), I got a job as a teacher. I instantly fell in love with the whole ELT world so I changed gears and moved my pile of books and my enthusiasm to ISP “Joaquín V. González”, where I spent some of the most interesting and challenging years of my life, and had a lot of fun too. After a while I travelled to the UK, where I got an MA degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Durham, and had the honour of learning from people like Martha Young-Scholten, Bonnie D. Schwartz and Paul Davis. More recently, I got my Licenciatura in English Language and Literature from the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (UNSAM).
About me as a teacher
Meanwhile, I’ve taught a variety of EFL, ESP (especially Business and Academic Reading and Writing) and ELE courses. I’ve also organized and delivered teacher development sessions for non-native teachers of Spanish and teachers of English as a Foreign Language. I have been teaching Contrastive Linguistics at IES Lenguas Vivas “Juan Ramón Fernández” -both at teacher training and translation courses- since 2007 and English Language I and II since 2013.
Why I blog
I blog because I believe in the power of sharing in teacher development. In this blog you will find links to other blogs and pages I think are worth reading, discussions on materials and tools I find interesting, my thoughts, impressions and experiences, and invitations to share yours.
I also blog because I want to learn: from you, from the web, from my own and others’ research. I’m pretty convinced that only life-long learners become really good teachers.
